Claim a Subscription

An administrator uses a claim code to claim the subscription for the organization.

For Enterprise Agreement subscriptions, the welcome email and the claim code are sent when the first request is made within the Enterprise Agreement Workspace (EAWS), not at the requested start date of the subscription. These are sent to the technical contact who makes the request within the EAWS.

After a subscription is claimed, the subscription’s products are added to the Product and service activation status list. You can activate the products in the list by clicking the Action required button.

Before you begin

You require a subscription claim code to complete these steps.

An organization supports only one instance of a product. For more information, see Single Product Instance in an Organization.

Procedure

1

In the Security Cloud Control platform menu, choose Platform Services > Platform Management.

2

Choose Product Subscriptions > Subscriptions

3

In the Overview page, select the organization where you want to claim and activate the products in the subscription. Alternatively, create a new organization.

4

Click Claim subscription in the upper-right corner.

5

Enter the claim code and click Next.

6

Select the product instances to attach the subscription licenses. You can associate an existing instance or let the system create a new instance.

  • To apply the subscription license to a new instance of the product, choose Create new instance from the drop-down list in the Create new instance or attach existing column.

After the subscription claim is successful, a new instance of the product is created and the subscription license is applied to this new instance.

  • To apply the subscription license to an existing instance of the product, choose Attach existing instance from the drop-down list in the Create new instance or attach existing column.

You may need to take additional steps to attach the license to an existing instance. Contact the product team or the activation specialists to begin the license application process.

Verify the products that will be claimed as part of the subscription.

  • If the organization has an active instance of the product, there can't be another instance in the same organization. Claim the subscription in a separate organization (new or existing) to activate another instance of the product.

  • If a trial license of a product is active and you claim a subscription for that product, you are prompted to apply the license on the trial instance. On your confirmation, the subscription is automatically applied to the trial instance.

  • If you have attached an external instance of the product, the subscription license is automatically applied to the external instance.

7

Review the list of products, their deployment regions, and then click Claim.

A deployment region is assigned to each product instance. The icons that are associated with the Deployments indicate how a deployment region for a product instance aligns with the selected region.

The following table describes the values that you see under the Deployments column.

Deployment

Description

Region will be per existing tenant

If you chose to attach the license to an existing instance, the Deployments column displays "Region will be per existing tenant".

This means the deployment region matches the region of the existing product instance. If the region of the existing product does not align with the preferred region of the organization, we recommend that you cancel this claim and create a new organization with a region that aligns with your existing instance.

Indicates that the selected region or country matches or is similar to the supported product deployments.

For example, organization region is "NAM" and product region is either "NAM" or "US".

Indicates that the product is deployable as Global or that the preferred region aligns with the existing product.

For example, organization region is "NAM" and product region is either "Global" or "Region per existing tenant".

Indicates that the product cannot be deployed in the selected region, so it is assigned a region where it is available.

For example, organization region is "APJ" and product region is "US".

The administrator who claims the subscription is assigned the role of an initial administrator for all products that are claimed in the organization.

You can add more administrators as needed by assigning roles to users.

New product instances are automatically provisioned and added to the Products list in the Overview tab. The existing product instances must be activated through the activation process. See Activate an Existing Product Instance.

Products are activated after their requested start date. For Enterprise Agreement (EA) subscriptions, before you activate the product, make a product request in your Enterprise Agreement Workspace (EAWS). EAWS requests take up to 24 hours to be completed. After the EAWS request is processed, you can activate the product.

What to do next

Activate the products whose subscription start dates have been reached.
